In today's jobs market graduates have to know how to present themselves, their skills and attributes, in ways which will attract the attention of future employers.

As most final year undergraduate students enter the last six months of their degree, they are being encouraged to boost their jobhunting with a visit to the Career Development Centre's new video CV service.

The University is the latest UK institution to sign up to the online video service 'Meet the Real Me', which can be found at website www.meettherealme.co.uk

'Meet the Real Me' enables students to create an electronic or 'e-me', a short online video where they can explain who they are, what education and work experience they have, and why an employer should give them a job. The idea is that this personal approach will give students an edge over other candidates when competing for a job.

The 'talking head' straight-to-camera format means the filming can easily be done in the Career Development Centre or online at home. Careers advisers can help students with how they present themselves.

Once students are satisfied with their e-me, it goes online on the 'Meet the Real Me' website.

Celia Beizsley, Career Development Centre Manager, said: "In today's jobs market graduates have to know how to present themselves, their skills and attributes, in ways which will attract the attention of future employers."

With the increasing use of social media and e-profiles in the job market, CDC is encouraging academic staff to point their students in its direction to take advantage of new services such as 'Meet The Real Me'.
