Making A Stand
1 October 2010
Sue Morrison and Jean Mutton, of SSIS, were invited in the summer to attend the JISC Innovation Forum conference held at Royal Holloway, to co-present a session on change management and also showcase the work of the JISC-funded enrolment project.
Despite never having done a poster session or exhibition stand for a conference before, their stand won first prize - a £50 book token.
Jean said: 'We did not even know there was a competition so it was a great surprise when we were asked to come out to the front at the start of the second day of the conference to receive the award.
There were 16 stands in total, but we were so busy on our stand we did not get much chance to look around the others.
"Not really knowing what to expect we had included a talking heads DVD of students doing some mystery shopping, as well as artefacts from the project such as T-shirts and the blueprint on which we mapped out the enrolment processes from the student point of view.
"Richard Hannaford in Centre for Learning and Teaching had done a great job in drawing up our poster from a very rough sketch and some text, so big thanks to him and his team."
