12 December 2006
Christmas delicacies will be on sale at Thornbridge Hall this Sunday.
This is the first seasonal event of its kind we’ve organised. It is an opportunity to showcase the range of high quality foods available from Peak District Foods producers.

A University of Derby initiative is showcasing locally produced Peak District foods this weekend at a free Traditional Christmas Fair at Thornbridge Hall, Derbyshire. This is just the latest in a series of events and initiatives held this year to support local food producers in the Peak District.
The Thornbridge Hall Traditional Christmas Fair is organised by the Peak District Foods project. Its Coordinator Sheila Russell, based at the University’s Buxton Campus, said: “This is the first seasonal event of its kind we’ve organised. It is an opportunity to showcase the range of high quality foods available from Peak District Foods producers.
“Visitors will be able to take a break from the chaos of Christmas shopping while having the opportunity to buy some Christmas food in a picturesque setting.
“You can escape the crowds and spend this Sunday, from 10am until 4pm, discovering wonderful foods and speciality gifts produced in the Peak District, walking in the stately home’s gardens, experiencing the traditional old-time funfair and sampling beers from the award-winning Thornbridge Hall micro brewery.”
Thornbridge Hall at Ashford-in-the-Water, off the A6020 just outside the village, will provide some Christmas magic in a perfect country setting while celebrating the best foods and gifts Derbyshire can offer. The Hall is a private country house set in 100 acres of stunning parkland. Admission to the Christmas Fair is free and there will be plenty for everyone to see, do and taste on the day.
Peak District Foods is working in partnership with the team at Thornbridge Hall to encourage visitors to sample and buy the pick of Peak’s produce – the kind of excellent ingredients recommended by top chefs.
Members of the Peak District Foods Group will be selling locally reared meats, smoked meat and fish, eggs, local herbs, puddings, preserves, hand made biscuits and ice creams.
