The Buxton Dome was filled with the sounds of Chinese drumming, international music beats, and...a Chinese dancing lion on Monday and Tuesday (March 5 and 6), as the University of Derby Buxton's Student Support and Information Services' (SSIS) Get Sorted wellbeing event got underway.

At the event, the MaBo Lion Dance group gave a fantastic performance to the large gathered crowd, and members of the University's diverse international student body gave a fashion show of their countries' contemporary clothes.

A team of BA (Hons) Events Management students organised two 'World Culture Days' as part of the event. Paulina Odalska (Poland), Ramona Mohorea, Lilla Madacsi, Alexandra Venetis, Anca Dicui (Romania), and Donika Gegova (Bulgaria), brought the world together through stalls representing countries such as Malaysia, Kenya, Ghana, Latvia and the UK, giving a fashion show, displays of traditional music and dance, international cuisine and games.

A group of Saudi Arabian students also came over from the University of Derby's Kedleston Road site to take part in the festivities, offering Arabic coffee, desserts and henna painting.

BA (Hons) Events Management student Alexandra Venetis said: "I was responsible for liaising with the multicultural stall holders, as well as cooking and selling the food which represented Romania.

"I enjoyed the buzz of the event and the fact that my role required me to run around a lot when communicating, problem-solving and liaising with people on the day."
