LEI Holds Its Launch Event
21 November 2011
The official launch of the Institute for Learning Enhancement and Innovation (LEI) attracted interest from across the University.
LEI has strategic responsibility for enhancing the student learning experience through its integrated provision. It brings together the support for academic practice, technology-enhanced learning, and quality assurance and enhancement with the library, careers service and support for student learning.
The event in the Atrium at the Kedleston Road site on November 3 featured an opening speech by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Coyne.
In her address to the audience Dr Ruth Ayres, Dean of LEI, said: "I would like to see this as the beginning of a much longer dialogue.
"Today's launch gives us the opportunity to showcase some of what we're doing but it's an ongoing project, where we're working together in partnership to drive some of the institutional priorities that the Vice-Chancellor has alluded to."
Visitors saw displays by LEI's technology-enhanced learning team, library and careers development teams; with staff on hand to talk about the ways in which academics' work can be supported by LEI.
Information about the new staff development programme, launched this year, was available.
The event was also used to announce the launch of LEI's new website, which can be found at: www.derby.ac.uk/lei
