Launch Of Academic Practice Programme

Being a better tutor, getting more out of feedback and using technology to enhance student employability are just some of the topics to be covered in the University's programme of Academic Practice sessions this semester.
The annual programme of workshops, lectures and activities arranged by the University's Institute for Learning Enhancement and Innovation (LEI) are open to and free for all staff.
Speakers from within the University and the wider higher education sector host a series of sessions focused on the enhancement of Academic Practice.
A full programme for this semester is now available at LEI's website at www.derby.ac.uk/LEI/lei-events but the first sessions include:

Tuesday October 2 (1pm - 3pm) - Using the 'collaborative' Blackboard tool to enhance personal tutoring, with University of Derby (UoD) Learning Technology Advisers Chris Bell and Charlie Davis. Room to be confirmed.

Thursday October 11 (1pm - 3.30pm) - Contemporary issues in HE assessment, with Peter Scales, UoD Senior Teaching Fellow. Room tbc.

Tuesday October 16 (1pm - 3:30pm) - Developing an inclusive approach to feedback, with Dr Chris Wakeman, UoD Learning Experience Manager. Room tbc.
- Tuesday October 23 (1pm - 4pm) - Embedding the Employability Agenda in Contemporary HE Curricula, with Jane Artess and Charlie Ball (Prospects UK). Room tbc.
Dr Ruth Ayres, Dean of LEI, said: "The sessions provide the opportunity to learn more about the chosen topic, share good practice across faculties and gain an external perspective on the subject area."
