The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) is highlighting innovation at Derby with a video case study about its Second Life project work.

Psychologists have been harnessing the virtual reality platform to enhance student learning, and Derby's case study will feature on the forthcoming video - Innovative Practice for a Digital Age.

Connected will provide more details once the video is completed and available. Interviews have been carried out with five first year Psychology students Deborah Waller, Carrie Pritchard, Libby Walker, Chris Durham and Matt Poulton.

There were also staff interviews with Derby Psychology Lecturer Simon Bignell, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Liz Barnes, technician Ian Hallsworth, Lecturer in Psychology at Sunderland University Vanessa Parson and Technician at Aston University Jon Wood.

JISC inspires UK colleges and universities in the innovative use of digital technologies, helping to maintain the UK's position as a global leader in education.

It is hoped the video will be ready by the autumn.
