January Start Gives Uncertain Students A Second Chance

Derby is one of a handful of universities who offer new students the option to start an undergraduate degree in January. This year, to ensure the University maximises student recruitment, its Marketing team is delivering a campaign aimed at people who may have missed out in September.

Peter Allen, Marketing Director, said: "The past 12 months have been particularly challenging for students with the new fees regime making many of them question whether or not to invest in a university education. This uncertainty will understandably have led many to defer making a decision, perhaps to try and secure full time employment or maybe simply to buy themselves some time before making the commitment to university in 2013.

"The management team believe that, having had more time to think, there will be a number of students who realise that a university education is right for them.

"It is with that in mind that we have decided to make some of our most popular courses available for students to start in January 2013, giving them the opportunity to get started on a degree this academic year, rather than waiting until next September.

"As one of only a small number of universities in the country with a January intake Derby is well-versed in ensuring that students who choose this option get the same level of service and support as those who start in September. For example, anyone accepted for a January start would be fully supported with securing accommodation and sorting out their finances."

The full list of courses and more information can be found at www.derby.ac.uk/january. Places on these courses are limited and any interested students should contact our Admissions Team on 01332 59 2013.
