It's Question Time For Derby North Candidates

27 April 2010

Question Time

Students and the public will have an opportunity to grill candidates for the key marginal seat Derby North at a Question Time-style event being held at the University of Derby at 7pm on Wednesday 28 April 2010.

The University of Derby has invited candidates Lucy Care (Liberal Democrats), Stephen Mold (Conservatives) and Chris Williamson (Labour) to the Question Time-style session inspired by the recent televised debates featuring the three main political parties.

The candidates will be answering questions on issues affecting students and local residents at the event chaired by Gail Mellor, Yorkshire TV reporter and Journalism lecturer at the University.

President of the University of Derby Students' Union Caleb Jackson said: "This is a great opportunity for our students to get the information they need from candidates to make a more informed vote in what will be for many of them, their first experience of a General Election."

The event is also an opportunity for students on Journalism and Media Writing courses at the University of Derby to experience and report on election issues.

The public are welcome to attend the event from 7pm on Wednesday 28 April at the University's Kedleston Road site.
