Healthy Interest Expected In Talks On Sound Mind And Body
15 January 2008
A better body and mind for 2008 is the theme running through the new series of Devonshire Lectures to be held at the University of Derby Buxton. Life Coaching, being able to ‘talk to strangers’, managing pain and learning how to relax will all be covered during the latest series of free public talks, all to be held at 6pm in the Lecture Theatre of the Dome at the University of Derby’s Devonshire Campus, Buxton. A lecture on Health Kinesiology and Life Coaching will be held on Wednesday 23 January at the campus.
Health Kinesiology is an alternative therapy aimed at rebalancing the body’s energy flow. Light muscle pressure is used to test where stresses lie and then treatments ranging from magnets, to homeopathic remedies or even thought training are used to bring the body back into balance.
Professional Health Kinesiologist Jo Dall and Debbie Inglis, a Life Coach, will give the talk and answer audience questions.
Food for the mind will also be provided by a business talk on Effective Networking Skills by Deborah Barham Smith, of Derbyshire-based group DBS Training. The one hour talk on Wednesday 27 February will focus on techniques to better build relationships with ‘strangers’ in the world of business.
Jo Dall will return to the Dome on the subject of Pain and Allergy Management on Wednesday 12 March. She will be joined by Karen Glancey of Anroach Acupuncture Clinic, who will talk about the use of acupuncture in treating muscular-skeletal problems, migraines and other pains.
The Art of Happiness and Relaxation will be tackled on Tuesday 13 May by hypnotherapist, psychotherapist and counsellor Annette Boden, who will discuss the benefits of positive thinking and self-hypnosis for physical and emotional health.
