Graduate Releases Latest Collection Of Poetry
6 August 2012
Renowned Derbyshire poet and University of Derby graduate, F Philip Holland, will launch his latest collection of poetry on August 12 (2012).
'Jigsaw' is a new collection of 80 pieces of writing, free verse, rhyming poems, prose, ballads, haiku, sonnets, observations, songs and stories. The book features previously unpublished works taken from the last three years.
The book is imaginatively illustrated by Pat Holland, the author's wife, and the foreword has been written by the nationally acclaimed poet, Roger Elkin.
'Jigsaw' is dedicated to educationalist, fellow-poet and friend of the author, Sir Christopher Ball, who was at one time Chancellor of the University of Derby.
This latest book follows on from the considerable success of Philip's last six publications; which includes his first collection, 'Words of a Derbyshire Poet' and his concise Derbyshire dialect dictionary 'Words of the White Peak'.
Philip, who graduated from the University in 2008 with a BA (Hons) degree in English and Creative Writing, has performed his poetry at a wide variety of national and local events including Buxton Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Chester Festival, Leek Arts and Ashbourne Festivals. He also regularly performs for groups and societies in the region.
The award winning poet's work has been featured on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Derby, MTV, BBC North West Tonight, BBC Radio Sheffield and High Peak Radio.
The official launch of the book will be on Sunday August 12 at Brierlow Bar Bookstore, Ashbourne Road, three miles south of Buxton, from 11am - 4pm. At the event Philip will be pleased to give readings and sign books.
Jigsaw is available to buy at £9.99 (plus postage) from the author by emailing philipholland@uwclub.net , also at 'J. Sidebotham and Son', 9. Grove Parade, Buxton and at all good bookshops in the Peak District and Derbyshire.
