'Gold' For Derby At National Safety Awards

6 August 2012

The University's Health and Safety team, based in the Human Resources department, has received a Gold award at the 2012 Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

The Awards recognise commitment to accident and ill health prevention in UK businesses and organisations. Entrants are judged on accident records, and health and safety management systems.

Martyn Holden, Director of Human Resources, said: "This is an outstanding achievement, recognising the University's approach to occupational health, safety and wellbeing.

"It is highly unusual to be awarded Gold on a first application, so we should be especially proud of this award. We all have a role to play in keeping ourselves and others safe, and protecting our University community."
