People looking to fast track their business or accounting career can now study online with the University of Derby and top up their qualification to a degree in Accounting and Finance in just one year.

To satisfy increased demand for online distance learning, the University of Derby has launched the new top up BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance for people who currently hold qualifications in the subject.  This is one of the five new programmes added to the University's online provision this September; taking the number of programmes it delivers online up to 28.

Julie Stone, Head of University of Derby Online, said: "Over the last few years we have seen increased numbers of people from the UK and around the world applying for and successfully completing online degrees with Derby.  Last year over 1,400 people studied online with us.

"We wanted to satisfy demand from people wanting to further their education and careers in business; and do so through the medium they can fit around their busy working lives - online."

This degree equips students with a sound knowledge of accounting and business and will enable them to take up a management position in industry and commerce, or become a professional accountant.  Learners can study at a pace that suits them and, although the courses are 100% online, students are fully supported by teams of experienced e-tutors and dedicated support staff and there are many opportunities for interaction with other students around the world.

The University will welcome learners onto the degree from September 2011, and is taking applications now.
