An exciting national feast of cool British fashion and music covering 50 years will include a slice of University of Derby style.

The first 'Vintage at Goodwood' festival begins today (August 13) and runs until Sunday (August 15); at the Goodwood Estate, Chichester. It is the first of what it is hoped will be an annual music and fashion led celebration of five decades of creative British cool from the 1940s, '50s, '60s, '70s and '80s.

Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, founders of fashion label Red or Dead, are behind the event which will feature leading DJs, bands, collectors, purveyors of vintage clothing and vintage vinyl from each decade, as well as contemporary bands and brands inspired by Britain's rich creative and cultural heritage.

Among the vintage clothing retailers at the festival will be Derby-based Princes Vintage.

The business was set-up in 2004 by Sam Docker, who graduated from the University of Derby's BA (Hons) Creative Product Design with Marketing degree course in 2006, and business partner Lee Bostock.

Originally operating from Sam's bedroom, their enthusiasm for vintage fashion has seen business boom and they now operate from a warehouse and office unit in Derby city centre, housing a self-contained professional photography studio and storage space.

The pair source a wealth and variety of products from all over the world, having developed contacts in France, Holland, Canada and the USA throughout their six years of trading on eBay. The business will also be visiting the University of Derby on Saturday 30 October as part of the 'Affordable Vintage Fair' which travels all over the country.

Their fashion range covers all of the eras represented at the 'Vintage at Goodwood' festival and they are very excited about being there for the first one.

Sam, 27, said: "It's taken a lot of preparation and planning, let's hope the wealth of vintage lovers take inspiration from our range!"

Lee, 30, added: "To be invited by the curator of the vintage clothing marketplace at Goodwood is a great achievement, and really puts us on the vintage map."

Also appearing at the festival, representing the Glam Rock of the 1970s, will be Roy Wood and his band. Roy was made an Honorary Doctor of Music at the University of Derby's 2008 Awards Ceremonies.
