This Easter Saturday people are being invited to eat more than just chocolate, and instead to try the best food and drink the Peak District has to offer at the first ever Good Taste Food and Drink Festival.
This celebration of local food is being held at Buxton's historic Dome, home to the University of Derby Buxton, from 10.30am to 4pm on Saturday April 23.
There will be a wide range of quality food and drinks produced in the Derbyshire Dales, High Peak and Staffordshire Moorlands to try and buy; including cakes, biscuits, meat, cheese, ice cream, beer and wines from producers such as Derbyshire Dale Organics, Hope Valley Ice Cream and Peak Ales.
There will also be entertainment for the whole family, such as cookery demonstrations, of healthy smoothies and juices by Kathryn Johnson from Raw Appetite, and how spicy lamb curry by Tajmal Shikh from Darley Dale's popular Indian Restaurant, The Shalimar.
And there will be food tastings, face-painting an Easter egg hunt, and biscuit decorating.
Dr Liz Oldfield, Programme Leader at the University of Derby Buxton, who organised the Good Taste event said: "This festival is a showcase for all the fantastic food and drink produced locally, and will be the perfect way to spend Easter Saturday."
"What makes this event extra special is that we are also featuring accommodation providers who source their food and drink locally."
The Good Taste Food and Drink Festival taking place at the Buxton Dome on Saturday April 23, is free to enter. To find out more about the event visit the website: www.goodtastefoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk
The Festival is part of the University of Derby Buxton's three year Extending the Season project financed by a grant from LEADER in the Peak District Rural Action Zone. This is part of the Rural Development Programme for England, jointly funded by Defra and the European Union, and delivered by Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DEP).
