Events Planner Takes Centre Stage
22 December 2011
An experienced events organiser will return to where she learned her trade to take over the role of Events Manager at Buxton's Dome Events Management as Tara Silverman begins her maternity leave in January (2012).
Emily Ibbotson, 23, from Tamworth, studied a BA (Hons) Events Management degree at the University of Derby Buxton from 2007 to 2010 and jumped at the chance to return.
She said: "I really enjoyed my time at Buxton especially all the opportunities I had to gain hands-on work experience at real events. While at University I had placements at Tamworth Council where I worked in the outdoor events team, Leicester City Council where I worked on the 2009 Special Olympics and also in Dome Events Management at the Buxton Campus."
Since graduating in 2010, Emily has worked as an account manager for an events company; with clients such as the Open Golf, Cheltenham Festival and Download Festival.
Emily's first event in her new role will be the University of Derby Students' Union graduation ball - taking place at Derby's Assembly Rooms on January 20 (2012), and featuring top acts including BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James.
She added: "I'm really excited to be working on some fantastic events that Dome Events Management have already secured for 2012 including the Grad Ball, the Peak District Food and Drink Festival, the National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) conference and the Buxton Spa Forum later in the year."
"But I also hope to put on many more public events in the Dome following the success of the 1940s evening in November."
