Phase Two of the University's eSubmission project will launch in October.

Following the success of Phase One, Phase Two of the University's eSubmission project gets underway for the start of this new academic year.

A launch event is scheduled for October 9, at which staff will be able to give their opinions, share good practice and make suggestions for its future.

eSubmission allows students to submit a digital copy of their work online directly into the relevant module area in the University's 'course resources' site. It is then marked and electronic feedback given, which the student then accesses at the agreed time from any location via the internet.

It was initially implemented for Level Four students (Higher National Certificate and Certificate of Higher Education level) at the beginning of the last academic year (2011/12), to improve student satisfaction levels and achievement, and allow for greater consistency in tutor feedback through the use of electronic feedback. More than 60,000 pieces of Derby student coursework have so far been submitted using eSubmission.

In response to feedback from users through various forums, including a recent user survey, the project team are working with IT Services to provide additional IT equipment. In addition, the print-to-mark service will be extended for another year to assist in the transition to e-Marking and a range of student wellbeing advice is available from the esubmission website.

Extensive support and staff development is available from the Technology Enhanced Learning Team, based within LEI. Staff development is a requirement for all staff that have not yet been involved in the project.
