The Epilespy Society has recently awarded the University of Derby and one of its students with champion awards.

Helen Hollis, who graduated at our awards ceremonies in January, and the Psychology team led by academic Dr Jane Montague, were presented awards by Sally Gomersall from the Society. Helen has battled epilespy for the last ten years or so and the University helped her through her course, graduating with First Class Honours in January.

The awards are a recent initiative for the charity which also recently awarded one to a young schoolboy -  who went on local TV to talk about epilepsy, and staff at ASDA supermarket in Birmingham - who on many occasions helped a woman with epilepsy who had seizures in the shop.

Others pending include a woman who has just qualified as a nurse and two members of parliament who have spoken up for people with epilepsy to have a fair deal.
