Derby Talent To Light Up Edinburgh Festival
14 July 2011
Arts festivals up and down the country will be lit up by some dark tales this summer, when three theatre companies created by graduates from the University of Derby's BA (Hons) Theatre Arts degree course stage their latest productions.
Derby based theatre company Uncontained Arts, which was set up in 2008 by Adam Howell and Cara Nolan, will perform Not So Grimm Fairy Tales an exciting interpretation of some much-loved children's stories at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August, after a performance at Derby Theatre.
Production company Fifth Word, winners of Writers Guild of Great Britain Award, are also appearing at Edinburgh, with their latest production Bones, which they will preview exclusively in Derby. This original psychological thriller directed by Angharad Jones and Laura Ford is an honest portrayal of a boy struggling to find his place in a world that doesn't want him.
And this week, Different Devices, which was started in 2010 by Tim Ford, Jessica Morland, Victoria Mulqueen, Jennifer Roche and Amie Shore will perform their Jack the Ripper story to audiences at the Buxton Festival Fringe.
Tickets for Jack: A Rippers Tale on Friday 15 July 7.30pm and Sunday 17 July at 10.30pm are available at www.undergroundvenues.co.uk.
