Dawn Whitemore, Head of the University of Derby's business to business division, University of Derby Corporate (UDC), is to leave the University at the end of February to become Deputy Principal (Delivery) at New College Nottingham (ncn).

In her new role at ncn, Dawn will be responsible for curriculum delivery, including embedding excellence, employability and enterprise, which will enable her to build upon the leadership skills she brought to UDC as its founding head.

Dawn joined the University of Derby in 2008 after a successful career in Further Education and her new role sees her returning to the FE sector. She will be one of the first senior appointments at ncn since the arrival of new Principal Amarjit Basi.

Professor John Coyne, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Derby, said: "Dawn has done a superb job for the University and been instrumental in building UDC from the very outset. It was fitting recognition of her contribution that the University won a national Times Higher Education award in November for its work on employer engagement.

"This is a great loss for Derby but Dawn deserves success and we wish her well in her new role. We take great pride in our recent record of senior staff gaining significant promotions and we know that Dawn will do a great job for ncn, as she has for us."
