Staff and students across the University were in good heart as they raised vital funds for Comic Relief recently.

Members of Student Support and Information Services and the School of Flexible and Partnership Learning raised £371.80 for the cause by running a cake competition and selling the cakes afterwards; organising a second hand book and DVD sale and they also dressed in red on the day. Some of the photos captured here are from their event.

Elsewhere, members of the Library Services team raised £300 for Comic Relief by wearing red noses on the day and collecting money from staff and students.

At the Buxton Campus, a group of BTEC Travel and Tourism Buxton College studentsraised £160 by selling cakes. The 12 students were inspired by a recent Comic Relief programme about the slums of Kenya. "The kids there were doing their homework with raw sewage going past," said Sian Wright, 18."We're just so lucky here."

The group made and sold more than 160 biscuits, cakes, brownies and flapjacks.
