Campus Cyclists' Derbyshire Dash For Charity
22 June 2011
The University's Buxton to Derby Bike Ride has become an annual fixture, raising funds for charities.
The annual event has also encouraged those taking part to get into cycling on a more regular basis.

Dozens of cyclists will be flying along the 45 miles of road between the University of Derby's Buxton and Derby campuses to raise cash for Derbyshire Air Ambulance.
The University's annual Buxton to Derby Bike Ride for staff and students has raised around £20,000 for different charities since the first one in 2004.
On Friday (June 24) the seventh bike ride will see 50 staff and student cyclists pedal the 45 miles, or a longer route of 70 miles for some, to raise around £3,000 for the Derbyshire Air Ambulance.
Riders will set off at 10.30am from the University's Buxton Campus, with the first arrivals expected at its Kedleston Road site in Derby in time for lunch. All cyclists will have paid £5 to take part and must raise at least £10 in sponsorship.
James Brown - University Transport and Travel Manager, and bike ride organiser - said: "Last year, during National Bike Week, more than 70 staff and students raised over £4,000 for Breast Cancer Research through the bike ride.
"The annual event has also encouraged those taking part to get into cycling on a more regular basis."
University staff will be given special leave to do the charity bike ride and have one-way mini-bus transport to Buxton from Derby. The route, which largely avoids main roads and uses national cycle routes, will be fully marshalled, with vehicle pick-up for anyone unable to complete it.
The University's Bike User Group will be giving a prize for the cyclist taking the best photo during the bike ride.
