Students from the University of Derby Buxton are getting ready to run, ride and row the Dome on 20 May 2010 in aid of the charity Help for Heroes.

Over the course of the 24-hour challenge, 130 students from the Uniformed Public Services and Sports BTEC National Diplomas will run, cycle and row as far as possible in the magnificent Dome, the centrepiece of the University's Buxton Campus.

The fundraisers will work in teams taking four-hour shifts, during which they'll row and cycle on stationary machines and run around the Dome, keeping up continuous activity for the full 24-hour period.

Richard Robinson, lecturer in Uniformed Public Services, said: "The students have been training hard for this charity event and we hope to notch up more than the 1,600 miles we managed during the same challenge in 2009."

"As some of the students on the Uniformed Public Services course will be going into the armed services, the Help for Heroes charity is close to their hearts, and it will certainly involve the team work and fitness they'll need in their future careers."
