Busy Start For SSIS Teams
27 October 2010
Teams within Student Support and Information Services have been busy during the last two months ensuring students got the best start to the 2010/11 academic year, and they are now busy working towards the graduation Awards Ceremonies.
Inductions
The Student Experience Team welcomed the 2010 intake with its new style of support services inductions. They held sessions for all first year on-campus students to give them some vital information on five of support services - the Student Wellbeing Service (formerly Support and Advisory Service), Career Development Centre, Chaplaincy, Students' Union and the Library.
The sessions went well, and the team is currently wading through feedback forms. Initial feedback looks good, and they would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who supported the process.
Freshers' Fair
The Student Experience team also enjoyed a presence at the Freshers' Fair. This year they were promoting their online 'Ask Us' service to students. They had a fantastic response, with many people already familiar with the service. If you have any questions for the team email feedback@derby.ac.uk
Careers OnetoOne
The Careers Development Centre have been celebrating the success of their OnetoOne service, introduced last year to offer careers advice to unemployment managers, professionals and graduates, and those at risk of redundancy, suceeding in helping over 100 clients back into work.
OnetoOne will continue to run until the end of December, and has expanded its remit to offer free careers advice to any manager, professional or graduate in the Derby area. Contact Jo Wheldon on j.wheldon@derby.ac.uk for more information.
