Boost Career in Psychology With Online Study
1 August 2011
Graduates with an interest in continuing their studies and pursuing a career in the burgeoning area of psychology can now study the subject at a postgraduate level online with the University of Derby.
To satisfy increased demand for online learning in psychology, the University of Derby has launched two new Masters Degrees in the subject: Health Psychology (MSc) and Psychology (MSc). These are two of five new programmes added to the University's online provision this September; taking the number of programmes it delivers online up to 28.
Julie Stone, Head of University of Derby Online, said: "Over the last few years we have seen increased numbers of people from the UK and around the world applying for and successfully completing online degrees with Derby. Last year over 1,400 people studied online with us - 440 on the online Psychology BSc (Hons) - making it our most popular online programme.
"We've introduced two new specialist Masters programmes to consolidate on the online undergraduate programmes we already offer, giving our online Psychology BSc degree graduates the opportunity to continue studying in a way that suits them."
The MSc in Health Psychology will introduce students to a range of health psychology professional competencies in areas such as teaching and training, research and consultancy.
The MSc Psychology programme is suitable for graduates who don't hold a psychology degree wanting to make a career change into psychology; such as teachers wishing to pursue educational psychology, nurses and other health service professionals looking to continue their professional development.
Learners can study at a pace that suits them - and although the courses are 100% online - students are fully supported by teams of experienced e-tutors and dedicated support staff and there are many opportunities for interaction with students from around the world.
The University will welcome learners onto the degree from September 2011, and is taking applications now.
