Wimbledon 2011 is gearing up for Finals weekend.

As Wimbledon 2011 draws to an exciting climax, two Derby academics have been in the international media spotlight with their views on attaining 'peak performance state'.

Both Mark Cheetham, Lecturer in Sports Physiology at the UK's University of Derby Buxton, and colleague Charles Spring, Assistant Subject Manager for Sports, have commented about how an angry Andy Murray mutters to himself and Rafa Nadal seeks refuge in a towel.

Mark and Charles argue these quirky habits are tell-tale signs of stars honing their peak performance state. News agency Reuters is among the media which carried their expert views in the international media this week.

Mark, a chartered physiotherapist, explained that, because he and his team in Sport and Exercise at the University are consultants to elite athletes, they are in a unique position to comment on such sporting events.

Both academics are among the dozens of experts at the University of Derby who are available for comment within our Guide To Expertise on a wide range of subjects. Visit: http://www.derby.ac.uk/corporate-relations/expertise-guide/search-for-an-expert to find out more.
