Events Management students Leanne Drennan and Chissy Edwards prepare for the 1940s themed evening at the Dome

The countdown is on to a1940s themed Big Band Swing Night of music and dancing in Buxton's iconic Dome, happening on Friday November 25 from 7.30pm till late.

If you think you'd enjoy an evening of wartime nostalgia or if you are just looking for a night of fantastic entertainment then get your tickets now.

Eighteen-piece Ockbrook Big Band will provide a fabulous 40s soundtrack to a night on the dance floor; playing classics numbers from Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and Artie Shaw. And one of the UK's most successful wartime nostalgia singers, Erin Parker, will perform classics from Vera Lynn and the Andrews Sisters in the true style of the era.

Tara Silverman, Meet Me At The Dome Event Organiser, said: "We hope this one-off 1940s themed event will attract people from across Buxton, the High Peak and even further afield. We're even encouraging guests to get dressed up in classic clothes from the era, so when they step through the doors of Buxton's Dome it really feels as though we've turned back time."

Tickets cost £15 for adults and £7.50 for children and senior citizens, and can be purchased at the Dome reception on Devonshire Road, by calling 01332 594606, or on website www.derby.ac.uk/udb/at-the-dome/1940s-night
