Research
We work in partnership with national and international instiutions
National collaborations
We've developed research links with Birmingham University and Birmingham Mental Health Trust’s Research Programme. From this we've published a number of studies on psychosis, and comparisons of people with psychoses and those with depression. Recently we have completed a study looking at bipolar depression.
We're excited by two new collaborations:
Along with the University of Aston we've been involved with an exploration of the neurophysiology of self-criticism and self- reassurance using fMRI.
We're also working with the physiology research team at the University of Glasgow and with them have submitted a grant application to the Sackler Foundation for further research into the neurophysiology of self-criticism and self reassurance/compassion.
International collaborations
We have an ongoing collaboration with Professor Mark Baldwin at McGill University in Canada looking at the emotional impact of facial expressions.
We're providing consultation on a number of projects in Portugal under the direction of Professor Jose Gouvia. These are looking into areas such as entrapment and defeat in depression, the link between shame memory and trauma memory, and the development of new shame and self-critical scenario-based measures.
We've also been involved with Professor Marvin Smucker in Norway in the development of the shame-based trauma scale.
