Matthew Howard is one of our first year FdEng Motorsport Engineering students. Matt is part of the Doughnutters team and he enjoys racing his own car that he has built himself. He's a qualified mechanic and has come to Derby to gain a deeper knowledge and develop himself further.
Matthew said, "The lecturers at Derby are very supportive. They are full of knowledge and guidance. The course is very fulfilling and detailed. There are great opportunities for networking on the various trips that we go on and the University has excellent industry links.

We asked Matt what he would say to somebody thinking of coming to study at Derby?
"I looked at a lot of other universities but for me Derby had the best location as it's at the heart of the country. I get on great with the lecturers and I feel comfortable here and everyone is approachable and friendly. There is always somebody to support you and help you. There is a great practical element to the course and I honestly do find it perfect for me."
Matt is also in partnership with Tegiwa Imports, who are a company that offer services for maintenance, fitting and advice.
