My name is Emma Butler, and I'm one of the Subject Librarians for courses delivered by the University of Derby Buxton, including Access programmes at Kedleston Road.
Part of my job is to buy the library resources and help you use them effectively for your academic work. I'm very happy for you to drop in and see me at either Kedleston Road or Buxton, or send me an email to arrange an appointment.
You should get to meet me, and my colleague Maria, through your library induction and workshops.
I can help you make full use of the library, including:
- Finding information for an assignment
- Researching your dissertation
- Using library electronic resources
- Advice about study skills eg Referencing
- Providing subject guides
As your Subject Librarians, Maria and I work closely with students and academic staff to develop the library service and resources. We attend the Buxton Student Liaison Meeting and receive feedback from the FE Student Focus Groups. We also go to HE Programme Committees, so if you have any comments about the library or IT facilities you can ask your Student Rep to raise them at this meeting. Of course, you're also welcome to come and talk to us directly!
