The Study Advisor Scheme is a mentoring scheme; students help other students to improve their study skills.
Who can use the Study Advisor Scheme?
Any currently registered University of Derby student on a HE level course, that can visit one of the Derby or Buxton campuses.
Who are the Study Advisors, and what do they do?
Study Advisors are advanced level students (undergraduate stage two or above) employed by the library and trained to work on a one-to-one basis with students to indentify and help resolve any study skills problems by sharing their experiences.
How do the sessions work?
When you meet with a Study Advisor for the first time, you will sit down and decide what you want to address during the sessions. You can arrange to meet your Study Advisor for a maximum of 8 hours. Your discussions with your Study Advisor will remain totally confidential, and only you, the Study Advisor, and the scheme co-ordinator will know that you are seeing a Study Advisor.
How do I arrange to see a Study Advisor?
Simply fill out a blue 'Study Advisor Scheme request form' which can be found at any of the library sites and return to any library counter, or fill out the request a Study Advisor form.

How do I become a Study Advisor?
Remember... academic work is a challenge - it is not easy. You are not the only student to struggle with aspects of the work, so don't struggle alone.
