Grammar, spelling and punctuation
Sometimes reading your own work out aloud means you are more able to detect when a phrase does not sound effective.
Remember
- Use the spell check option effectively (English language version) on your computer.
- Do not rely solely on the spell checker, proof read the document yourself.
- Starting your own pocket vocabulary booklet is good practice. You can then add any phrases or words you are unsure of and their meanings.
- Noting phrases and buzz words from lecturers and from periodicals and books is also useful.
There are a selection of leaflets which contain examples, descriptions and rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
