SED: A quick guide for undergraduates
SED: A quick guide for undergraduates
What is SED?
- SED (secure electronic delivery) is where you request a journal article to be sent to you via your PC
What's good about SED?
- It's a quick and reliable service, often 'next working day'......
- You can use it on or off campus
- It goes half way to answering the usual question, 'How quick will it be?'
How do I request an article by SED?
- The first thing to consider is payment. Each ILL request will cost £2.00, a small admin charge, but only the price of a pint or a latte...........(although this charge is under review....)
Next is 'How do I pay'?
- Pre-pay your online request at any of our libraries
- Complete a printed pdf form or card request form and hand it in with your money at any of our libraries
What do I need to remember?
- Print the document as soon as it's opened - don't leave this, because.....
- .....SED is quick, but you've only got 14 days to open and print the document - otherwise it's gone, lost, departed its electronic life, error 404.......
Give me a form...
Online will be quicker and easier, but you must pre-pay
Look here for the online and pdf versions
- Card forms can be found at the Loans Desks
