‌‌‌‌Geldards‌Pride Park-based lawyers from national practice Geldards continue to support Derby Law School by lending its expertise to our LLB Law Programme.

The most recent lecture, led by Geldards’ Michelle Craven-Faulkner, focussed on key skills required for pursuing a legal career from work experience through to job applications and interview skills.

Geldards’ Joel Murphie, Sarah Hooker, Liz Mills and Daniel Greatorex joined the line-up by presenting a hands-on session to a mixture of undergraduates, masters students and LPC candidates on options open to graduates who wish to pursue a future in law.

Commercial law expert, Michelle, also delivered a specialist in-depth lecture on contract law earlier in the month.

Michelle explained: “It was fantastic to speak to such a broad range of legal students, at various stages of their academic careers, and I hope the advice we gave will come in good use.

“Finishing university and starting your career can be a daunting proposition for many graduates, so it’s really rewarding to be able to lend a helping hand to those that hope to make up the next generation of top legal talent.”

Geldards’ latest involvement with the University of Derby follows the firm’s sponsorship of two special awards for graduates from the university’s legal courses earlier this year.

Scott Atkins, LLB Programme Leader & Senior Lecturer in Law, added: “We’re really grateful to Michelle and her colleagues at Geldards for coming in and not only helping the students improve their understanding of certain areas of law, but also for sharing their experience of how to successfully enter the legal profession.

“With competition for training contracts increasing year-on-year, advice from a senior professional such as Michelle could provide the vital edge our students need to make their mark in the legal industry.”
