Lecture Capture using Panopto

What is lecture capture?

Our lecture capture system allows you to record your lectures complete with PowerPoint slides.

The result is a video recording of your lecture, which is then automatically and immediately available in Blackboard for you to share with students.

This guide will show you how to capture your lectures using the Panopto system which is already available in all our classrooms.

Why use lecture capture?

Lecture capture has many benefits for academics and students:

  • It gives students the chance to review content. This is particularly useful when complicated procedures or concepts form part of a lecture.
  • It provides an alternative when students miss a lecture.
  • Course content is available to students wherever they may be and across many devices.

Lecture capture is a tool that enhances the learning experience, not a replacement for traditional teaching.

How do I capture a lecture?

There are 3 simple steps to recording your lectures and making them available to students.
