Xerte
The Xerte Online Toolkit is a 'rapid content creation' tool, designed by the University of Nottingham, for tutors to author e-learning packs of content, with logical navigation and interactive capabilities. Tutors can access the tool through a web-browser, assemble rich content and embed that content within any area on Blackboard, all without the hassle of downloading an application to their PC. Xerte can create sophisticated interactive formative quizzes using simple wizards and 'pull in' other web-based resources, such as maps and streaming video. Xerte also allows tutors to collaboratively author content by inviting their peers to access a shared area, either as an author or critical friend, or both! Once using Xerte, tutors also get access to a content repository (Xpert) where they can start sharing and reusing existing Xerte content for use in their module.
