EPortfolio - PebblePad
What is it?
PebblePad is a versatile web-based tool referred to by some as an ePortfolio and by others as a personal learning space. It can be used for a variety of purposes, including Personal Development Planning (PDP), both formative and summative assessment, Continuing Personal Development (CPD) and lifelong learning experiences in informal and formal contexts. PebblePad provides users with opportunities to store, share and reflect on a range of rich evidence potentially combining text, images, video, audio and web resources and which represent learning in a variety of contexts.
How does it work?
As a web-based tool, PebblePad can be accessed anywhere so long as there is Internet connectivity. Users can upload a wide range of content in video, audio and image-based formats to a centrally located repository. From here artefacts, or assets as they are referred to in PebblePad, can be brought together to represent learning in a multitude of contexts. For example, assets such as CVs can easily be shared with prospective employers and compendiums of individual artefacts can be submitted for assessment purposes in the form of webfolios.
Where do I find it?
LEI Departmental Operations, lei-queries@derby.ac.uk, create and issue accounts to all users. It is important staff notify LEI that they require administrative privileges when setting up their own personal PebblePad accounts. In order to create student accounts LEI need both student names and ID numbers. Support for the application of PebblePad in learning and teaching contexts is provided by the Learning Technology Team located in B111 at Kedleston Road. Contact them by emailing learningtechs@derby.ac.uk or calling X1865.
Technical support for PebblePad is available by emailing itservicedesk@derby.ac.uk or calling x1234.

These video resources were created as part of an RLTF-funded project which explored the use of PebblePad to support assessment practices on the BA (Hons) Creative Expressive Therapies (Music Pathways) course. Students from the course, Judy Taylor (their tutor), Charlie Davis (Learning Technology Team) and members of the Media Team worked collaboratively to produce them. They raise awareness of what ePortfolios are used for and they provide users with helpful advice on how to use various features on PebblePad.
