Adobe Presenter

Adobe Presenter

What is it?

Adobe Presenter is an audio tool that integrates seamlessly into Microsoft PowerPoint, allowing tutors to record their voice over a set of slides.  The narrated presentations can then be published in Course Resources (Blackboard) for students to listen to.

With their tutor's commentary adding context and deeper meaning, narrated presentations become much more engaging for students than viewing a standard text and image only PowerPoint presentation. Adobe Presenter works within PowerPoint, there is no need to learn a new tool 'from scratch'; simply select the audio recording tool from the PowerPoint menu and hit record!

How does it work?

Any PowerPoint presentation can be used with Adobe Presenter. Just open the presentation up on any PC with Adobe Presenter installed and select 'record audio' from the 'Presenter' menu.

Provided a microphone is available tutors can record slide-by-slide, animation-by-animation throughout the duration of their presentation. Once complete, the audio presentation can be uploaded into any content area in Course Resources (Blackboard). Students will now be able to listen and watch a presentation rather than reading bullet points and be able to playback, pause and rewind at any point making a valuable revision resource.

Where do I find it?

Please be aware that currently there is no site-wide license for Adobe Presenter, but we can provide guidance on purchasing a license for your faculty or school (note: Adobe Presenter is not compatible with Mac OS X). Alternatively the following options are available:

  • The Learning Technology Team loan out laptops with Adobe Presenter pre-installed and ready to run - we can also supply a microphone and headset, so you'll have everything you need to record your presentation in your own time and your own setting. Just pop in and see us for more details.
  • The Learning Technology Team has quiet spaces available with Adobe Presenter enabled desktop PCs, if tutors need somewhere to record

What are the alternative options?

Panopto is primarily used as live lecture capture software that records screen, camera and voice and can also be used to record presentations at the desktop.  The software is available to be installed on all University PCs, home PC and Macs providing you have a UoD login.
