Improving active learning

What do we mean by Active Learning? A web resource including details of staff development sessions, staff testimonials and printable handouts.

This particular area looks to develop a deeper understanding of the following aspects of active learning. Staff development sessions will be offered covering in detail all of these different approaches.

• Electronic formative assessments
• Reflective blogs kept to track student working through of a problem-based or problem-solving task.
• Collaborative student wikis developed to organise and present the results of a group research task.
• Online or real classroom-based activities.
• The use of social networking technologies to aid the organisation of and information exchange during group work.
• The use of immersive technologies to develop and test observational, social, role playing and practical skills.
