How can I use Contacts?
In the contact area tutors can post details about themselves, this can include a photo, short biography, and office hours amongst other details.
A folder of Support Contacts is also provided within every module, this contains IT support, University A-Z and Blackboard Collaborate help.

Tutors can also be positioned in categories for example: different campuses, or group tutors.

This guide will explain how to create a categorised staff info page. If you do not wish to use a categorised setup you can skip the create category section.
Getting onto Staff Info
- Log into Course Resources (Blackboard) through Udo, www.derby.ac.uk/udo
- Select the relevant Module
- To add to the staff info area you must have Edit Mode turned on, turning Edit Mode off will allow you to view the module as the students see it.
- Edit Mode can be toggled on or off using the button highlighted below:

- Click on Contacts
Creating Staff Categories
- Click on Create Folder (This is for the first Category)

A new section will load

Section One
- Give the section a name (e.g. Derby Tutors) You can select a Default name from the drop down box
- You can also type a description of the Category in the Text Box (e.g. Click here for details of your Derby Tutors)
Section Two
- To ensure students can see the Staff Info category ensure that Make the Folder Available option is set to Yes
- Press the Submit button
You first Category has now been created, Repeat that process as many times as you wish to create more categories
Creating a Staff Profile
A staff profile can be created with a category folder or directly in the staff info area. In this guide we will be creating a staff profile within a category folder.
- Click on the Contact link on the module menu, Click on one of the Category folders if you wish to create a contact within a category.
- Click on the Create Contact Button

A new section will load

- Fill in as many details as you wish
- A photo can be attached by clicking the Browse button (the photo should be square in shape, otherwise blackboard will warp the picture)
- Ensure the Make Profile Available option is set to yes
- Press the Submit button
