Charlie Davis
Learning Technology Advisor
My background
In my capacity as a Learning Technology Advisor for ADT, I'm available to support tutors as they consider how technologies might be used to support learning and teaching in contexts they are familiar with. I'm a Media and Photography graduate with a keen interest in how a range of technologies and multimedia resources can be used in teaching and learning. Prior to taking up my position at the UoD, in July 2009, I spent 8 years as an ESOL teacher/trainer in Barcelona, Ireland and England. It was while teaching that I began to explore the use of technology as a means of supporting both my own teaching practices and my students' endeavours to develop their English skills in a wide range of areas. As part of my Doctoral studies, I'm currently researching the impact the transition from trainee to Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) has on primary teachers' notions of self as teachers and the extent to which it influences their career trajectories. This has allowed me to engage with digital storytelling technologies as a method with which to capture participant narratives for the purposes of informing my findings.
