Using Technology to Enhance Student Employability

Laura Hollinshead is a Learning Technology Advisor based in the Institute of Learning Enhancement and Innovation and helps to support staff to implement learning technology in their teaching practice. Laura currently works closely with the UDB and has a particular interest in how technologies can be used to support student employability.
Chris Bell is currently a Learning Technology Advisor, located within the Institute of Learning Enhancement and Innovation. Chris has over ten years' experience of working with tutors, in both FE and HE, to embed technology effectively into their teaching and learning practice.
Session Outline
This session will explore how technology can be used in conjunction with the wider University Career Development Centre to help keep student employability central to teaching practice, both in terms of the uptake of individual tools and the delivery of content. By looking at the use of social media, and Blackboard, participants will explore how students can autonomously curate their own digital presence to build a wider online portfolio and later integrate this within module design and academic practice.
