The International Student Voice: Conclusions and next steps

Suzanne Wigley

Suzanne Wigley

Thursday 22nd November (1.00 - 3.30)

Suzanne has worked across both FE and HE and has had roles that focus on the 'student voice' including working for the National Union of Students (NUS). She has worked at the University of Derby for 5 years and has responsibility for co-ordinating the running of most student survey. This includes the dissemination of results, supporting colleague's action planning and communicating the intricacies of the survey systems. The International Student Barometer sits within this suite alongside the Feedback survey, National Student Survey and the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey amongst others.

Session Outline

This session will have a focus on the data available from the International Student Barometer and other surveys. It aims to identify the areas for focus from a student perspective and some of the information international students are telling us about their experience at Derby.

Follow up sessions:

On Tuesday 11th December, Dr. Mark Atlay from the University of Bedfordshire will talk to UoD staff about the new QAA Quality Code for Learning and Teaching (2012). The new quality code sets out expectations about teaching and learning which Higher Education providers are required to meet. It has much relevance to all learning and teaching practitioners including those supporting international students.
