Sarah Keeling - LL.B with Criminology

Crest

The lecturers are so passionate about their subjects, so knowledgeable and helpful, I looked forward to my lectures, even if I was coming in after a full day at work.

Sarah Keeling studied the LL.B (Hons) with Criminology and won the Smith Partnership Prize for Best part-time LL.B (Hons) student.

A great place to study

I have always been a bit of an underachiever. I left school having started, but never finished my A Levels. The people in my life doubted that I would ever finally finish a course. The fact that I completed my law degree over four years on top of a full time job (and also on top of a second job in my last year) is a testament to how interesting and varied Derby University made my studying experience.

A passionate teaching team

The lecturers are so passionate about their subjects, so knowledgeable and helpful, I looked forward to my lectures, even if I was coming in after a full day at work. Those times that I did not feel like going to a lecture I just reminded myself of the effort the lecturer had put in.

Winning the award

If you had told me a few years ago that I would definitely complete a degree, let alone get a First class with honours and an excellence award I would have been astonished. Four years seemed like such a long time and such a big commitment, but actually it was just a series of small commitments
