Lucy Haynes - LL.B
Lucy is the joint winner of The Nigel Harding Prize (for Support to Fellow Students) for 2009. She is studying LL.B (Hons).
Why Derby?
When I came to an open day I felt really at ease here and it was the only university I visited that I could imagine myself attending and living there. The best part of my course so far has been gaining so much independence and increasing my confidence. Winning this award is also such a nice surprise - I'm very pleased!
Looking to the future
I feel that my course here is preparing me well for my career, as it focuses a lot on the practical elements that other universities don't offer. When I've finished my degree I plan to commence the LPC, and then hopefully find a training contract.
My advice
Make sure you perfect your time management skills and make sure you have the determination to carry it through. It's a challenging course but well worth it in the long run!!
