Winning the award
I was really shocked when I found out I'd won the award, as there are so many good students on my course, but I'm also proud that I achieved it.
Studying at Derby
My time at Derby has given me a fantastic foundation to my future career and a good insight into the criminal justice field. My fellow students and all the Criminology teaching staff were so supportive, and I've got the confidence to change my career and go for my dreams. My independent study was based on the cycle of abuse, and I'd ideally like to make a long term career in the area of child protection and safeguarding.
My advice
The hard work is worth it. Take every opportunity going and make the most of your time at Derby, as it will be over all too soon!
