Dianne Sunley - LL.B

Dianne studied LL.B (Hons) and won The Smith Partnership Prize for Best Part-Time LL.B Student in 2008.

It suited me perfectly

Having worked for 20 years in retail I wanted a career change. I had always had an interest in law and so started studying on the part time LL.B course in 2004. I chose the part time course because I was working full time and it fitted in with my other commitments.

The lecturers are excellent

They work really hard at making sure that you're given all the support that you need to get you through to the end. It can be quite difficult getting back into the routine of attending lectures and sitting exams but the dedication and help that I received from the teaching staff was brilliant. I made some great friends as well, and we all helped each other.

The hard work paid off

I'm absolutely delighted to win the Smith Partnership Prize and it just goes to show that with a bit of determination, anybody can achieve their goal.

I would recommend studying Law at Derby to anybody because I've had an amazing time and because of my degree, I can now go on and complete the Legal Practice Course which is required for my training as a solicitor.  It was well worth all of the effort!
