Some of our law students recently took part in annual mooting competitions against other universities across the country.

We entered a mixture of full time and part time LL.B students into the mooting competitions to represent Derby. LL.B lecturer David Hogkinson said "We are proud of all of the students that took part and delighted to have so much success across all competitions."

Our recent competitors include Nottingham Trent, Nottingham University and Northampton.

Derby vs. Nottingham University

LL.B students Kerrie Salsac and Louisa Jones had an excellent performance beating their counterparts from Nottingham University. "The students were clearly ahead and very professional" said Judge Attenborough.

Northampton University

After taking 1.5 hours to decide the winner, the judges announced Derby as the winner of the OUP moot. Steve Kis and Debbie Robinson were very good and clearly ahead throughout the competition.

Nottingham Trent University

After a sterling performance by students Chris Murray and Ryan Houghton, Derby were narrowly beaten 138-131 by Nottingham Trent. Judge Nicola Hunter said "the students did a really good job and it was really close moot, which could have gone either way."
