Courtroom lessons

Student in the courtroom

Taking part in a mooting competition is the most realistic scenario next to actually being a barrister in the courtroom. It was a fantastic experience.

Vicky Eynon and Pauline Walker

The School of Law and Criminology is not only unique in having a full-sized Courtroom, but also in the way in which it integrates it into the curriculum and our partnerships with the justice sector.

Developing legal skills

Our students all undertake mooting as first years, and also advocate cases in full court in the second year. You'll also be undertaking work with professionals giving evidence.

Witness preparation for students and professionals

Social workers and radiographers all undertake witness preparation courtesy of our Award-winning Interprofessional Courtroom Training team.

Under the supervision of barrister Larry Mead, we provide witness preparation training for probationary police officers through to senior investigators, forensic scientists and environmental scientists.
