Ashley Cook - LLM (Transnational Criminal Law)
Ashley is studying the LLM (Transnational Criminal Law), after completing his LL.B (Hons) with Criminology at Derby.
Why I chose law
Having completed my LLB with Criminology I was still undecided which legal career to follow, so I decided to continue my legal studies on the LLM, to focus my studies in Law. I'm also hoping to continue further at Derby, studying my Legal Practice Course (LPC) next year.
An interesting course
I have found the course really interesting as it allows me to combine a number of different modules. The areas that I've studied have ranged from assessing evidence, investigations, advocacy and courtroom situations, to dealing with aspects of business crime.
The LLM has helped me to focus into a specific area of law I have an interest in. I hope to be doing Transnational Criminal Law in my future career.
Making new friends
I've had no problem making new friends at Derby and have also managed to find the time to continue with coaching sports, socialising, and continuing my own personal sports training in between studying.
My career
I know exactly how tough and competitive it is to start a legal career and I felt having the LLM would help me. The LLM allows me to focus in the areas of law that interest me, therefore making me more individual when applying for work in the legal sector.
